Hi there,
I have a small business and am in a situation where I need advice. I have set up a website for our business. We had to change server hosting companies approx 3 weeks ago as the one we originally went with were having problems with their service. We changed hosting to a different company and checked before changing that they would have everything we need. Our site has not been functioning properly since we joined them as we were misold the product and crucial elements needed were not there as told. As our website is a new venture it is not bringing in a profit as yet but we have made a loss against our reputation as people have been visiting our site and it is not working properly therefore these people won't return. We have also spent money on pre arranged advertising for a site that has not been functioning. We have not been able to promote the site and generate more business as it is not working. We have found out that we are one of a few people that are using this hosting and this part of their company is new so we are in effect being used as guinea pigs. The server company were informed that there were problems immediately and they first said they were waiting for a decision from a higher level, then when management got involved they said they were fixing it and now a few weeks later they have told us they can't fix it and we will need to change server hosting again. They have said it is their fault and they will fully refund the money we have paid but I am wanting to claim compensation for this. I am wanting advice on how I can evaluate what damage has been done to our reputation as I am not sure how to quantify this. Or if anyone would be interested in taking this on as a case let me know. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Emma.
